About the Cameras
Riverwind™ uses High Definition Analog Cameras for in or around your primary barn.  These cameras are the newest innovation in the CCTV industry.  All cameras are weatherproof and come equipped with Starlight infrared.  The cameras are effective both indoors and outside.  The Starlight Vision IR is a newer and more effective method of Infrared.  It gives a much clearer all over improvement in complete dark and limited light.  We use 1080p cameras on our barn system.  4K cameras are available, but we have found that they are complete overkill inside or around most barns and sometimes slow down streaming.

Specialty Cameras
Specialty cameras such has Ultra HD, fisheye (130° and 180°) are available, but usually not needed for most situations.  Give us a call if you need anything besides our standard 103° field of view.

Pan Tilt Zoom Cameras
We can pair PTZ cameras with any of our HD Systems.  They are an IP camera add-on, connected with Ethernet cable.  These cameras can be in the same barn, a different barn on an antenna or on your home connected to your router.  You can add them to an HD System in the shopping cart (up to 2) if they are in the same barn.  You must call if they are in another barn or on your home do we can send the correct installation equipment. You can view examples and information on the PTZ camera by clicking here.

Installation
Installation is as easy as mounting the camera(s) and connecting them to the color coded cable back to the control unit inside the same barn.   Electric is only needed at the control unit location, not at the camera(s).

One antenna of the included pair is installed outside the barn facing the house, and is connected to the control unit with an Ethernet Cable (Cat5e or Cat6).  The customer supplies this cable- it is available locally from any electronics or hardware store.

At the house, the other antenna is mounted in line of sight to the barn and connects inside to the router.  The antennas are powerful -  they provide 3 miles line of sight distance.  Those in close proximity to the barn may be able to install the house antenna inside aimed at the barn, but it depends on the distance, the number, and type of wall it must go through.

The antennas include a flat mount and a pole loop.  The antennas must face each other.  We carry an optional pole / bracket to be used with the flat mount. This allows for easier positioning on walls that are not parallel with each other.  Step by step instructions and diagrams are included in each system. As always, we are just a phone call away if you have questions while installing your system. This system is very simple to install.

Cameras in secondary barns / locations
Our systems utilize a multiplex format. This means that we can add IP cameras to operate in secondary barns and/or around your home. The cameras will show up in series with your barn cameras.  You must call to order when adding secondary location cameras.  These cameras can be fixed 103° field of view, or a PTZ camera.  See above for PTZ information.

Working out of the box
We preprogram everything so it is plug and play.  If it doesn't show up,  give us a call!  We'll check it from our end.  If need be, we'll remote in to your computer and see what's going on.  For those with very slow Internet, we can set up a local address for high speed viewing (at home) even when the Internet is bad or out of service.  This local address will not use data.

As mentioned above, the system is on demand.  It does not use any Internet bandwidth when nobody is looking at it.  If you're on limited data, a local log in will provide unlimited high speed viewing from home without using any. If you are concerned your internet speeds may not handle it (when you're not at home), go to google.com and search for "google speed test".  Run the test button and note your upload speed.  For optimal viewing, we prefer an upload speed of .6MB or higher- preferably 1MB or above.  At slower speeds, the connection will function, but it may show full image shots while the video is buffering. The phone/computer feeds have both high and lower quality streams for ease of use and help provide live action video when using poor Internet connections.

Special Setups
Many times your barn camera setup does not fall into any one prefab setup.  If you have special circumstances (such as remote building with no line of sight or it's miles and miles away), give us a call.  We'll see if what you have is workable or possible with today's technology.

Jet-packs, Hotspots .
For those with Internet coming through a router at the house, you're good to go.  For those using a Jetpack or Hotspot, you have to have ethernet LAN jacks for the equipment to plug in to.  We can recommend 3rd party equipment to make this possible (under $30).  Give us a call and we'll explain the process and we'll help with it's setup.

Barns not near the home
If you have a barn or location more than 3 miles away or one so blocked from view that we can't provide a local antenna option to make it work, adding a 4G LTE Router or Jetpack to that location may make it possible.  There are options depending on your local wireless cell coverage that will connect the barn and avoid a year long contract with the cell provider.  Give us a call and we'll explain how this works.  You won't need the antenna portion for this system.
