Article #11: What If I Do Not Want to - or Cannot - Install My Barn Camera System?
Riverwind custom-builds and pre-programs every system before it ships, but we do not provide on-site installation. Fortunately, most Riverwind systems can be physically installed by anyone comfortable with a screw gun and a stepladder.
We have already handled the complicated part: camera programming, network configuration and antenna pairing. Installation is primarily mounting the equipment, running the supplied camera cables and plugging everything in according to the instructions.
A Handyman or Electrician Can Do It
If you do not want to install the system yourself, a capable handyman or electrician is normally all you need. Electricians are especially comfortable with running cable, mounting equipment and working in barns. The camera wiring itself is low voltage; any new line-voltage electrical work should be handled by someone appropriately qualified.
Have Your Installer Call Us Before You Buy
Your handyman or electrician is welcome to call Riverwind before you order. We can discuss the proposed installation, where the cameras and antennas will go, and what cable runs are involved. That lets the installer understand the job before giving you an estimate. They can call us again during installation if questions come up.
They handle the physical installation. Riverwind handles the technology.
Professional Installers Use Riverwind Too
Riverwind works with professional installers and resellers who prefer to have the customer purchase a Riverwind system while they charge for the physical installation. They could program the camera system themselves, but many would rather let Riverwind handle the technology and remain available for future technical support.
That means the installer does not have to become the customer's permanent camera-support department after the installation is finished.
Do Not Let Installation Stop You
If you are comfortable with a screw gun and a stepladder, install it yourself. If you are not, hire a handyman or electrician. If that person wants to understand the job first, have them call us.
You do not need a camera expert standing in your barn. You need someone who can physically install the equipment. Riverwind will take care of the camera expertise.
