Stand Alone System (no Internet anywhere)

Stand Alone Wireless Barn Camera System (requires no Internet anywhere)
view on a TV or monitor.  Without Internet, you can not view this on your phones, just a TV in the house.  If you later add Internet, you can add phone viewing.

Since 1997, Riverwind Supply has sold wireless Barn Cameras Systems that you could view easily on your TV.  Following the discontinuation of many of the older components, Riverwind has designed another industry first- Our Stand-Alone Wireless System. This system provides the convenience of our old traditional system along with all of the high definition advancements in recent years.
  • Wireless viewing from the barn to the house in stunning 1080p or 4K resolution
  • No Internet, computer, or network of any kind is needed
  • Displays on your television
  • Operates from a single AC outlet in the barn and a single outlet near your TV
  • System uses cables that are available locally and easily replaceable should something happen
  • Antennas that provide HD video up to 3 miles line of sight (house to barn)- tried and tested in 1000s of our HD systems across 7 years.
  • The option to record and review video at a later time (how long has she been down, has the baby nursed?)
What makes our system different?

We'd like to say this system was designed out of pure brilliance.  It wasn't. For 23 years, we were perfectly happy selling the same traditional system which displayed simply and easily on the TV, but that had to change.  As they say, all good things come to an end. The last quality transmitter/ receiver for straight analog was discontinued in 2019.  We got right to work with some of the top commercial companies in the US and designed a system that is plug and play ready.  This system requires no Internet, network, or computer. It connects directly to your TV and most importantly- it is stable and will work year after year when plugged in.  This system is an industry first and we are proud to put it on the market. This simple stand alone wireless system displays standard video in 1080p resolution and is capable of 4K. It includes the same 3 mile antenna system proven in 1000s of systems over the last 7 years. We program this system to be plug and play out of the box.  If you can see your barn (or something relatively close to it such as a roof top, grain leg, or telephone pole)- then this system will work for you. Trees and obstacles are manageable as long as you can make out an area relative to the barn. You can continuously watch live barn video, or record it for later if that option is added. There is no programming or tech knowledge needed on your part.  There's no need to take the system down year after year, but if you do, setting it back up is just as easy as the steps below. We program the equipment to work without a network. However, if you do have internet at home and a local network, this system may provide you with even more benefits. Please read the internet section below.
The Cameras

Copying the success of our High Def Wireless System, we sell this system standard with 1080p 2.8mm cameras with IR and Starlight vision.  This means each camera will cover approximately 103°.  When placed in the corner it will see wider than the walls and you'll catch everything.  When viewing large areas, try breaking it up into 50 to 75 feet squares and placing a camera in each (you'll have a little overlap).  The smaller the area, the greater the definition.  Most of the customer photos on this website were captured with these camera specs.  We also offer a cheaper version of this same camera if you'd prefer to go that route- it is the same specs without the starlight lens.  It still has a 100 feet IR rating and same 103° field of view.  Where the starlight camera has an aluminum housing, this one is plastic cased. Both are weatherproof.

Camera Count

When selecting a system, it's just as important to think about how many cameras you might end up with.  A 1 to 3 camera system will be full at 3 cameras. A 4 to 7 camera system will be full at 7 cameras.  We can provide systems that will fit up to 15 cameras, but you'll have to call.  In the pricing tool, you'll see the option to upgrade the base unit at the house and barn.  This will allow you to grow up to 7 cameras even if you start with just 1 to 3.   You can add cameras later, just be sure you start with enough slots.

Recording

Adding a hard drive will allow the system to record.  You can review data using your TV and the included mouse.  The hard drive space will begin to overwrite the oldest video first when full and continue to operate.  A 1TB hard drive will give you approx. 20 days of recording for one camera or 10 days for 2 cameras and so on (medium setting, 15 frames/second).  If you elect live view only, you can easily add a hard-drive later.

The Cables

Unlike our high definition system where we send the cables, this system operates on cables you buy locally.  Ethernet cable (Cat-5e or Cat-6) is available at most hardware and retail stores.  You provide an Ethernet cable from each camera in the barn to the control unit. There will be another piece running from the control unit to the antenna outside of the barn.  At the house, you will need one cable from the home base unit to the antenna.  If your home is close to the barn and not brick or metal, you may be able to place the home antenna inside, but plan on the outside.  Nobody gets mad because it's easier to install than they anticipated.

The Antennas

When we designed this system, we stayed with the long range 3 mile antennas used in our HD system.  We found that even close setups benefit from these compared to lesser models that cost just as much.  The antennas will go through limbs and wood, but don't do so well with masonry and metal.  The antennas are meant to be placed outside.  the antennas include a flat mount with a pole loop. It can be used either way, but the antennas must face each other. We carry an optional pole / bracket to be used with the flat mount and loop. This allows for easier positioning on walls that are not parallel with each other. so even if your barn or house are made of metal, there should be no issue.  See the slide show above for an example.

Viewing on the TV

The home base unit connects via HDMI cable to your TV.  Use the TV's remote to go to the barn channel.  The system will also accept a computer monitor (not a laptop) if you have a spare you wish to use.   You can view a single full screen camera all the time, or select a grid that will display all cameras at once. You can also setup a full screen rotation that cycles through the cameras.  You have the ability to digitally zoom in on the cameras to get a closer look at what is going on.

Adding Internet Accessibility to your Stand-Alone System

Riverwind is currently marketing this Stand-Alone system to customers without internet. It is a great alternative to our discontinued traditional system- it still displays on your TV but now it displays in high definition, can record, and has much better infrared.  If down the road you get Internet, this can be converted to also display on your phones and computers at no charge.
