Article #10: What “Custom-Built and Pre-Programmed” Means at Riverwind

When you order a Riverwind barn camera system, we do not take unopened equipment off a shelf, put your address on the box and send it out. Your system goes to our bench first.

Built Around Your Exact Combination of Equipment

Every system is configured for the cameras and equipment actually being shipped to your farm. That may be all high-definition analog, all IP, or a combination of both. The point is not to make every farm use the same package; it is to make the equipment in your package work together before it leaves us.

Cameras and Network Equipment Are Programmed Before Shipment

IP cameras are configured, network settings are established and the system is tested. The customer should not have to learn IP addressing or camera programming during installation.

Antennas Are Paired and Labeled

Commercial wireless antennas are configured to communicate with the correct partner before shipment. On a simple system that may be House to Barn 1. On a larger system it could be House to Barn 1, then Barn 1 to Far Barn 2, or a point-to-multipoint arrangement.

Multi-antenna systems are specifically labeled so you know where each unit belongs when you are standing at the farm with several pieces of equipment that may look nearly identical.

Instructions Are Included

The system includes our installation information along with instructions for downloading and registering the app and activating the system. The goal is to make a technically sophisticated system practical for a customer or local installer to put in place.

Family-Owned and Built In-House

Riverwind Supply has been family owned since 1997. We purchase equipment in bulk and, after almost 30 years of seasonal inventory planning, generally maintain enough inventory to build and ship systems quickly.

Under normal inventory conditions, most systems are built and put into the mail within one to two business days. Our Midwest shipping location also puts a large portion of our customer base within roughly one to two additional shipping days, although actual carrier time varies.

The Person Helping You May Have Built It

There is a good chance that when you call for help, the person explaining what you are holding is the person who programmed it, labeled it, packed it and sent it to your door. That matters because the support person is not reading from a generic script. They understand how Riverwind systems are actually built.

We build it. We program it. We pair it. We label it. You install it - and if you need help, you call the people who know how it was put together.
