New Router

New Router steps

If you installed a new router, restart the equipment (antennas and DVR).  If this does not help, your new router may have a different gateway address than the old router.  If your DVR was given a static IP address to enable a "HOME" feature, it is programmed to your old gateway, it will not connect to your new router.  If you use the app Alibi Vigilant Mobile to access your cameras, follow the restart steps then give us a call.  We can recover your equipment.  If you access your cameras through Superlive Plus or Eclipse Live, below is a method of resetting the DVR by connecting it to a mouse and TV/Monitor.

Eclipse DVR/Control Unit (Superlive plus app)

If you've restarted everything and it is not working on your phone through Home or Away, your DVR is probably set to a static IP address for your old router.  You'll have to bring the DVR to a TV/monitor in the house (unplug cameras and bring DVR/power supply inside), or take a monitor/TV to the DVR in the barn.  It will connect to the TV or monitor with an HDMI or VGA cable.  You may have an HDMI on a  TV connected to another device (borrow it).  You'll need a windows USB mouse like the one we sent with the DVR (connect it to the back of the DVR not the TV) and plug in the DVR's power supply. Depending on your model (located on the bottom sticker) do one of the following procedures.  If you wish, you can take the monitor to the barn and connect it or bring the DVR to the house and connect it to the TV with the mouse and power and give us a call.  We will walk you through the below procedure.  Be sure to tell us you're connected to the TV when you call.
    • Eclipse DVR models ECL- 4Q, 8Q, 16Q, Pro4, Pro8, Pro16, Pro4L, Pro8L, Pro16L, Pro4e, Pro8e, Pro16e (model on the DVR Sticker)
      • With the DVR connected to the TV (and on the correct HDMI channel), you should see squares where your cameras would normally be.  The bottom left corner has a start button you need to click.  This is sometimes almost hidden from view, but click around and you'll find it.  A list should pop up that has Settings in it.  Click this. If Settings is grayed out, click log in and do so.  Unless changed, it will be admin and 123456 or 654321.  Clicking on settings will bring up a menu with many boxes.  The bottom left box should be network and will have a TCP/IP or TCP/IPV4 line, click this. There is a selection to automatically obtain an IP address (might say IPV4 address)- this should be empty. Put a check in the box and click apply.  If this box was already checked, the router is not the problem.  If this is the case, return it to the barn. If you have and it's still not working, call in or run the troubleshooting guide to see if you have a bad ethernet cable.

    • Older Eclipse DVR models ECL- 4S, 8S, 4T, 8T, 4AF, 8AF (model number on the DVR sticker)
      • With the DVR connected to the TV, you should see squares or a wizard window.  At the bottom should be an Exit Wizard button, do so.  Push the menu button on the front of the DVR cover.  You will probably get a log in window.  Click on the box and log in with admin and 123456 unless you have changed it.  Push the menu button again to see the Main Menu.  Select the Setup Menu.  In the setup menu, select Network.  On the network menu, you will see the box for automatically obtain an IP address.  Check this box.   If this box was already checked, the router is not the problem. If this is the case return it to the barn or if you have and it's still not working, call in or run the troubleshooting guide to see if you have a bad ethernet cable.

    • Any Alibi Vigilant DVR / NVR
      • Please call with a Windows computer available, we will reset the equipment.
If you have reset the DVR using the above procedure and still do not have cameras on AWAY (Home will not work), you have other problems, go to and run the appropriate troubleshooting guide  on the support page.
